Celebrating National Principals Month

October is National Principals Month, and we proudly recognize the incredible leadership of our principals. Each day, they balance instruction, operations, community, and culture—all with students at the center.

Their work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact lasts a lifetime. We are deeply grateful for their courage, compassion, and commitment to shaping the future of our schools.

Join us in celebrating and thanking our principals for leading with vision and heart—not just this month, but every day.

Flyer titled “How are smartphones and digital devices in schools affecting our kids?” Bladen County Schools are participating in the NC Phones & Tech in Schools study. Study details: purpose—learn about impacts of student tech use; where—in school; eligibility—children in grades 6–8 in a participating school; activities—three surveys over one year (Fall 2025, Spring 2026, Fall 2026). Note: this is research, not treatment. A box labeled “Confidential!” states survey responses will be totally private and final results will not name any individual child or school. Another box explains the study is a partnership between UNC and the NC Legislature to support students and inform policy. A QR code is included with the text “Scan or click here to grant or deny consent and receive $5.” Contact info: LC Walker, Project Coordinator, ncphonestudy@office.unc.edu . Logos at bottom: Winston Center on Technology and Brain Development and Collaboratory. Illustrations of students using technology appear around the flyer.

Online Enrollment Links: https://www.myschooldentist.com/BNBCNC_schsrm
Enrollment deadline: October 24th
Clinic date(s) October 28-29

Reminder: Clinics are primarily for students without a regular dentist OR for those who wish to transition to our program from a regular dentist.
Parents of students already under routine care who do not wish to switch from their current dentist should contact the Patient Support Call Center at (800) 409-2563 to opt out if they've already enrolled.
Parents should also opt out if their child has had a dental visit in the past 6 months or has one scheduled soon, as duplicate services (like cleanings and fluoride treatments) are only covered by insurance or Medicaid providers once every 6 months and parents could end up being billed by the coverage provider for the cost.
